Thumb-Sucking Clinic

Dr. de Leon is a member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology. She specializes in diagnosing and treating orofacial myofunctional disorders. The more common myofunctional habits are tongue thrusting, thumb sucking and finger sucking. Orthodontic problems can be corrected but if there are myofunctional habits are presnt, no matter how well orthodontics have been done, if the habit is still there, the teeth will move back because the main source of the problem has not been corrected.

Dr. de Leon is renowned for providing excellent orthodontic care as well as helping her patients to make free of their thumb-sucking and finger-sucking habits that are contributing factors to their malocclusion (bad bite). She puts patients in a positive program that gives them the liberty to correct their own habits. It is definitely a rewarding experience for the patients, parents and the doctor. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, children should start seeing an orthodontist at the age of 7.
